Local Technical Assistance Program

The Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) is a PennDOT sponsored program designed to put new technologies and best practices into the hands of local municipal officials and employees.  Through training workshops and technical assistance, LTAP is a valuable resource for stretching road way maintenance dollars and finding solutions to safety and maintenance issues.

The Northwest Commission acts as the local coordinator, bringing various training workshops to municipalities and scheduling one-on-one technical assistance throughout the northwest PA region.  Classroom sessions offer a tremendous amount of information sharing and are available in the Spring and Fall. Technical assistance provides access to LTAP Engineers by phone, email, and in-person to help municipalities troubleshoot specific roadway maintenance and safety issues. This assistance is available year round.

Recently the Northwest Commission has introduced  "LTAP 101", an introduction to the Local Technical Assistance program.  The session is available in-person or virtually and is an opportunity to better understand the program and utilize all of the resources available.
