Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Greenways Plan UpdateThe Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Greenways Plan has been updated and accepted! The plan examines various methods by which greenways networks can be achieved for Northwest Pennsylvania. The proposed recommendations will consider the desire to conserve the region’s essential natural resources, identify projects which foster economic recovery through recreation and the collaboration of recreational partnerships while simultaneously recommending techniques to strengthen the regions resiliency in such a way that enhances the quality of life for its residents and fashions the development of the regions greenways and natural assets for sustainable growth, and finally catalog all recreational assets in the region. As the recommendations of this plan are implemented, a network of connections between the diverse natural areas; various cultural, historic, and recreational resources; and local population centers will be developed. These connections will help in serving to preserve natural resources and open spaces while providing valuable recreation, transportation, community, and economic development opportunities for the region.
